Doctor Who and All Creatures Great and Small star Peter Davison made an appearance in "A Pocketful of Rye" playing Lance Fortescue. He later went on to star in two of his own detective series, Campion and The Last Detective.

Wexford Audition piece
Playing Chief Inspector Fred Davy in "At Bertram's Hotel" is non other than George Baker. Like Peter Davison, he would also go on to star in his own detective series, playing Inspector Wexford in The Ruth Rendell Mysteries. He was offered the part after the director John Davies sat in on the editing of his Miss Marple story and heard his voice.
